Music in Germany was strictly controlled by the government. Germany banned Jazz music because it was accused of encouraging inappropriate behavior from young people. Under the Nazi regime, all music produced had to fit within certain standards defined as "good" German music as a result, musicians were permitted limited artistic freedom. However, some music were allowed for the army troops to hear but they were a few limitations.
One of the most popular songs in Germany was "Lili Marlene" written by Hans Leip in 1915 but published it in 1937. It was sang by Marlene Dietrich:
This is one of the most famous pop songs in world history. It was the single biggest song during the entirety of World War II, and amazingly, despite being sang in German, was popular among Allied troops as well as Germans. The love song was first written as a poem in 1915 during World War 1, but it was soon used to entertain German armed forces, as well as the rest of the axis powers. It was also used to entertain the allies.
